Going Green

EcologicalEcological footprint (ek-uh-loj-i-kuhl fŏŏt'prĭnt) - noun A method of estimating how much biologically productive land area is needed to regenerate the resources consumed by a particular population, and to absorb the associated waste.

Reduce Your Own Ecological Footprint In
5 Easy Steps

  1. Take the “Green Route”. Instead of driving, walk, ride a bike, or take public transportation. If driving is a must, make an effort to carpool, or plan your errands so that you minimize driving time and separate trips.
  2. Pull the Plug. In addition to turning off lights when rooms are not in use, choose energy efficient bulbs. Conserve even more energy by unplugging appliances when not in use – it really does make a difference!
  3. Bag it Yourself. When grocery shopping, use your own non-disposable shopping bags.
  4. Lighten the Postman’s Load. Remove yourself from catalog mailing lists and shop online instead. You can also save paper by choosing to access statements and pay bills online, instead of through the mail.
  5. Don’t Print It. Whether at work or home, read documents on your computer and print only when absolutely necessary.

“OK Hain Celestial, but what are YOU doing?”

Green EnergyHere are the details on some of the actions we’re taking as a company to make an immediate positive impact on our own ecological footprint:

  • Green Buildings: Every facility, from our corporate offices to our manufacturing and warehousing sites, is adopting procedures to evaluate and maximize our recycling practices, reduce waste, and improve energy efficiency.
  • Green Packaging: We are committed to reducing product packaging (versus using more material than absolutely necessary), in combination with sustainable, ethical sourcing of raw material.
  • Green Awareness: We are bringing environmental concerns to the forefront by integrating such messages into our various brand marketing campaigns. Our goal is to increase support and awareness for the need to take action and do as much as we can to protect our environment now.

We look forward to keeping you informed of our conservation initiatives, and hope that you will be inspired. Together, we can make a real difference!
